Varun Desai [5volts] : For more than a decade, Varun Desai has created, fostered and managed various entities, festivals, events and collectives of electronic music, world-fusion and jazz. Since 2007, Varun Desai heads Littlei, an organization based in Kolkata India, which is vested in music, arts and electronic creativity. As an artist, 5volts is an unique merger of technology and sound, living the ‘synthesizer music tradition’. His bio reads “A one-man-live act, the drum machine and 303 driven rhythms throb along improvised analog synth-work and digital atmospheres reminiscent of classic Ambient music, Krautrock and Berlin school syntheisis”. Varun Desai is the founder of Synthfarm and facilitates the on-site studios with a special focus on the synth-making and live jamming rooms. 

 

Lionel Dentan [Da-Saz] : An artist who can balance the art of east/west music paradigms, in both electronic and acoustic terms. Modular Synthesis to Middle Eastern acoustic instruments to bits of Jazz to Indian classical Sitar to Noise-core, Lionel Dentan is on a “total audio-galactic journey for life” His international collaboration titled ‘Jet Lag’ released on Phat Phish Records [Mumbai] clinched the “Best Indie Sound” in 2008 in India. Since 2005, his experience as a musician, performing artist, producer and curator of projects has manifested in India, Switzerland, Russia and France. Lionel heads the Modular Synthesis program at Synthfarm with the principle aim of encouraging students into discovery, understanding and spontaneity of Modular synthesis.
